As the year comes to a close, it’s tempting to replay everything that didn’t happen.
The goals you missed.
The prayers still unanswered.
The resolutions that quietly disappeared by February.
We measure years by outcomes.
God measures them by formation.
And those are not the same thing.
Romans 8:28 reminds us of a truth we often forget when we’re disappointed:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Not some things.
Not successful things.
All things.

1. God Doesn’t Waste What You Would
We label seasons as “lost” when they don’t produce visible wins.
God doesn’t.
The messy days.
The setbacks.
The long stretches of silence.
None of it is wasted in His hands.
What feels like delay to you may have been protection.
What felt like failure may have been refinement.
What felt like nothing happening may have been roots going deeper than you could see.
2. Showing Up Still Counts
If this year didn’t look like what you planned, hear this clearly:
If you kept showing up... even tired, even unsure, even weak... you were still being formed.
Faithfulness isn’t loud.
It doesn’t always produce quick results.
But it builds depth.
And depth lasts.
You may not see the fruit yet, but roots were growing.
And roots determine what can grow next.
3. Formation Isn’t Bound to a Calendar
This is why the Reset was never about dates, deadlines, or perfect streaks.
It was built around returning daily, no matter what the calendar says.
Because God doesn’t stop working when a year ends.
And you don’t need a “fresh start” to stay faithful.
You just need to keep returning.
As you step into a new year
Release the guilt of what didn’t happen.
Stop rehearsing the missed moments.
Let go of the story that says you fell behind.
Celebrate the God who carried you through.
Not everything went according to plan.
But if you’re still standing, still trusting, still turning toward Him…
Nothing was wasted.

This Is Why Reflection Matters
Before you rush into a new year with new goals, God invites you to pause.
To look back with honesty, not condemnation.
To name what hurt.
To notice where He sustained you.
To give thanks for growth you didn’t recognize in the moment.
That’s why the Anchored Daily Journal exists.
It gives you a place to reflect, release, and realign... not just once a year, but daily.
Not to dwell on failure.
But to see God’s hand where you may have missed it.
If this year felt messy…
If you’re carrying quiet disappointment…
If you want to step forward without dragging guilt behind you…
The Journal is a strong place to begin.
It’s not about rewriting your past.
It’s about recognizing how God has already been at work.
And building your next season from gratitude, not regret.
